The wooden sculpture seems to be a work of art that you have often seen. Usually, to get the best results, many artists use high-quality wood. To carve a piece of wood to make a statue that has a high artistic value using a chisel is something familiar sculptors do.
This artist from Ortisei, a small town in Northern Italy, does it. With the incredible talent and skill, he can produce dazzling carvings and bring himself to be world-famous. He has exhibited a lot in several European countries.
Giuseppe Rumerio stands out from many talented sculptors as one of the world’s greatest animal sculptors working in wood. Giuseppe’s favorite medium for carving is pine, although nearly every wood is ideal for carving. All of Giuseppe’s engravings have a dynamic animation quality, demonstrating his ability to take advantage of his subjects’ characteristics.
The most important thing for him is the authenticity of the hand carving. “Now, there aren’t many hand made carvers anymore because machines can also engrave the sculptures, but this is an industrial job, not as complicated as mine.”
