Martin Debenham, a British artist, although living in the countryside of Dorset, he was able to create sculptures of wire with intricate details and very beautiful.

Debenham admitted he did not take a particular class to make the wire sculptures, but it all started when he was a hat-maker in 2008. He made sculptures flow like a melody of wind blowing.

Now Debenham invites anyone interested in entering his world through art scholarships and training so that more and more artists are involved in this art of wire. If you are interested, you can go to the village of Dorset in England to meet Debenham and gain knowledge directly from the experts.

How to make the sculptures, Debenham uses stainless steel wire with diameters between 1.6 mm and 5 mm. He said the wire size was thin enough to be formed with his hands or pliers and thick enough to be welded by a welder. Are you still confuse?

“Sculptures include improvisation pieces that have spontaneously evolved into figurative and abstract forms,” he said.

To shape it, he uses the same primary method as forming ordinary clay; the silhouette model looks as accurate as possible and then rotate the piece slightly and repeat. It’s hard if not directly practiced so. Forming it is easy, but it takes quite a long time. His famous works are sculptures of a mermaid and an eagle. Debenham also made something abstract, somewhat complicated, but beautiful!

Before going to England, let us see Debenham’s works first, below!
