For many people, stones are nothing more than inanimate objects commonly found in rivers. It bothers us that you didn’t think of using stone to paint or do other artworks (lol). However, for people who have an artistic spirit, river stones that we often encounter on the streets and rivers are transformed into gorgeous and cultural art. Making good and unique artwork doesn’t always have to be with things that are hard to find.

You certainly wouldn’t have thought that river stones could look like cute animals in the hands of an artist. You will even look at the picture for a moment to make sure that it is just a rock. The paints that color these stones are made so detailed and the color selection is exact. Just like what Japanese artist Akie Nakata has done, who can create unique works of art and paintings even if she only uses rocks. At every opportunity, Akie Nakata will collect stones which according to her, have a unique shape. For example, she can paint a small oval stone to resemble a dog or cat with only acrylic paint.

Are you curious? Here, we present views of rock paintings as compiled from the Instagram account @ akie_2525. The following is a painting made on a rock that looks like a real animal in small. Let’s take a look at Akie Nakata do’s artworks below!

According to Akie, it took a long process to create an animal image on a no more enormous rock than an adult fist. She needed to inspire the form of the stone before deciding to paint it. She never cut a piece of rock to change shape. However, she chooses a suitable stone shape for painting because not all stone forms can be used as material for painting.

She saw rock as a canvas waiting to be drawn. Akie decided to give a touch of life to the stone that looked dead. Her works look very lively and very realistic.
